Nothing beats a gay wedding, especially when the two sweethearts in question have been together since high school.
Javier Perez met Victor Borbolla at an all boys Jesuit high school in Miami, Belen Jesuit, where they were instantly attracted to one another.
“He was the only one who wore long sleeves with his uniform — everyone else wore short sleeves,” Perez recalls in an interview with OUT. “Our first official date was on Election Day in 2008. We had sushi. Afterwards, in a car in the school parking lot, I kissed him, and it was just…bliss.”
Javier was attracted to Victor’s confidence, and they bonded over his love for Ashlee Simpson (because who doesn’t love Ashlee Simpson? “Pieces of Me” is still a jam).
The two stayed together through it all: coming out in high school, going away for college, long-distance and despite it all, their love for one another has persisted and stayed strong.
“At different points in our relationship, like when we first moved to New York together, we’ve had anxiety,” explained Victor. “Like we were missing out on the lifestyle of a single gay man. But then I remember we have something many people strive for. Everything I know about sex and chemistry, I learned and developed with Javi, and I think that’s awesome.”
The two married in October in a beautiful ceremony, surrounded by friends and family. And even though the ceremony took place last year, it’s one of our favorite things of 2017 so far, as they finally put the video out online for our viewing pleasure.
2016 was a rough year for a lot of reasons, but this moment wasn't one of them. I'm the happiest man in the world being married to this stud and I can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for us.
