Whole Foods Countersues Gay Pastor, Says Offensive Cake Was a Hoax

OK, if you guys are wondering why this story hasn’t made a WGB appearance yet but has been on every other blog, is very simple. When I read the story initially I instantly thought, “Liar, Liar, pants on fire!” I just don’t believe it. I feel this is a hoax story and the alleged victim is looking for financial gain. Just my opinion!

Let me catch you guys up on the story and now the recent revelation that Whole Foods is standing behind their bakery employees (one of which is gay themselves.)

“A gay pastor from Texas filed a lawsuit against Whole Foods Monday, claiming he received a cake with a gay slur on it. The supermarket chain filed a defamation countersuit Tuesday, however, alleging the incident was a hoax, Fox News reports.

Jordan Brown, who preaches at the non-denominational Church of Open Doors, said he ordered a cake that reads “Love Wins” with blue icing from Whole Foods on April 14 for a member of his congregation, according to his emotional distress suit filed in Travis County court. Brown alleges he instead received a cake that read “Love Wins Fag.”

But Whole Foods isn’t buying Brown’s story and reportedly said in its defamation countersuit that the pastor “intentionally, knowingly and falsely accused Whole Foods and its employees of writing the homophobic slur…on a custom made cake that he ordered from WFM’s Lamar Store in Austin.” Full story here!
